The LIUNA And MAROC

The Mid Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition, or MAROC, is an organization whose purpose was originally to give Construction Craft Laborers a voice that had authority when dealing with management and governments. Since their founding, and thanks to their work, MAROC has grown and evolved to include nearly every industry, and now includes a wide range of workers within these industries. MAROC now represents people from the public sector workplaces as well as manual laborers to ensure they all receive fair and just treatment from their respective employers.

The Laborers International Union of North America, or LIUNA, with their vice president, Dennis L. Martire, understands that an effective union needs to work for both employee and employer, and MAROC has benefited from this philosophy. In addition, both organizations know that the power of the union is directly affected by the size of their membership; the more people who join, the greater the influence the union has and the greater the benefits they can provide.

Both Dennis Martire and his team at the LIUNA strive to give a powerful voice to all workers in the Mid Atlantic region, but more than just a voice, the LIUNA provides access to training and education that members can take advantage of in order to learn new skills, go further in their current careers or take on an entierly new challenge as the job market fluctuates.
